Welcome to Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries

Covid-19 Vaccination Information 12th February 2021

The COVID vaccination programme here and across North Yorkshire continues to progress at pace and we’re delighted to say that all of our patients  in the first four priority groups, as determined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), have been offered a vaccine.

Thank you for your continued patience.

We are now turning our attention to patients in the next two priority groups – all those aged 65 and over, and all individuals aged 16 to 64 with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality, together with carers and young adults in residential settings.

Vaccine supplies permitting, we’ll be running clinics for patients in these groups from next week at Derwent Surgery in Malton. We are expecting a delivery of Pfizer vaccines, therefore we cannot move these vaccines to the practice.

If you are a patient in the fifth priority group (patients aged 65 and over), you may receive a letter from the NHS national booking service (NBS) inviting you to have your jab at a regional vaccination centre.

You can choose to access this service (the nearest ‘regional’ site is at Askham Bar, York), or you may prefer to wait to be contacted by the practice for an appointment closer to home. If you choose to decline the offer from the national service and wait for an appointment at one of our GP-led clinics, please be assured, you won’t be missed. We’ll be in touch with you at the appropriate time – you don’t need to call us.

Please continue to use the NHS website here for up to date information about Covid-19, and there is further help for patients who are recovering from Covid-19 here.

Pharmacists Join the Team

We now have 3 pharmacists who have joined our Primary Care Network of Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries, Ayton & Snainton Medical Practice, Derwent Practice and Sherburn & Rillington Practice.  Sarah, Kenny and Fiona will be supporting our clinical teams, primarily reviewing prescription medication for our patients.

Physiotherapy Self Referrals

Please click here for information about how to make a self referral to physiotherapy.

Face Coverings

We are asking patients to wear a face covering when visiting the surgery as the recommended 2 metres social distancing may not be able to be maintained either during a consultation, while waiting for an appointment or when collecting a prescription. Please click here for more information.

Online Consultations

We have introduced an online consultation service so you don’t always need to come into the Practice to get our medical expertise.  You can input your symptoms online and will receive a response from the Practice, generally by telephone, usually by the end of the next working day at the very latest.  You will also have access to reliable and trustworthy self-help generic information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week that may help you to avoid an appointment altogether.

Working with Other Practices During Coronavirus

We have been working hard with other GP Practices to redesign how we provide Primary Care Services to our patients as we work through the Covid-19 outbreak.  We are putting in place a new approach and you may see changes if you access services from Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries during this time.  This approach will enable us to make sure that we continue to provide the services patients need in the days, weeks and months ahead.  Our approach sees us working with other GP Practices in a new way by 'clustering together' to form a network to provide services over multiple sites.  This means you may receive services somewhere other than at Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries and may see someone other than your usual GP or Nurse.

Extended Access Service

Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries work alongside other GP Practices in Ryedale to provide services 7 days per week.  Click here for more information about booking appointments.
