Summer Clinics for Catch-Up Childhood Vaccinations
If you think your child has missed any of their school age vaccinations (HPV, Meningitis ACWY, Diptheria, Polio, Tetanus and/or MMR) you can contact the Childhood Immunisations Team on 01423 553115 or email email@example.com to book an appointment at a summer clinic being run by the team. Covid Autumn Booster Vaccinations
Autumn booster vaccinations will be offered to all patients aged 50 and over and all patients at risk of complications from covid infection. We are planning clinics in October to offer patients the covid booster along with the seasonal flu vaccination again this year, and will be contacting all eligible patients in September to offer the vaccine. We have already placed our order for the seasonal flu vaccinations for all eligible patients, so please do support your GP surgery and have your vaccinations with us again this year.

Keeping safe in the heat
We all love the sun, but babies and young children can be very vulnerable to sunburn and heatstroke. There are some tips here on keeping them safe.
Everyone can be vulnerable to heatstroke, so it's important to keep well hydrated, wear a hat, and stay in the shade as much as possible. The NHS has tips on keeping safe and on what to do if think you or someone you know has heatstroke.

Out-of-hours palliative care
Saint Catherine's hospice is now offering out-of-hours palliative care advice and information (Palcall). Patients and carers can speak to a nurse for advice and support on the telephone. Palcall is available only when the GP surgery is closed, including bank holidays and weekends. The number is 01723 354506.
Extended Access in our practice survey
Extended access is provided by a group of GP practices, (primary care network) over and above the core 8am-6pm contract. We are undertaking a patient survey, to ensure this meets the needs of our patients. The service is due to be provided from 1st October 2022.

Next Steps Ryedale resource centre
Next Steps Ryedale offers support to people in Ryedale with mental health issues or suffering from isolation & loneliness. The community cafe & hub in Norton is open 8-3 Monday-Friday, and a group meets at Kirbymoorside on Wednesday 9-12, and at Pickering on Thursday 9-3.30. If you are aged 70-79 you are eligible for a shingles vaccination if you have not already received one, and there is now a non-live vaccine available for patients who were previously not able to receive the live vaccine. We will be inviting eligible patients over the next few months to book an appointment, but if you are eligible and would like the vaccine now then please contact the surgery to book an appointment. Wearing of masks in GP surgeries/hospitals
Although some restrictions have been eased in the 'living with covid' plan, all patients, staff, and visitors are still required to wear masks (unless exempt) when attending the GP surgery, or when attending or visiting any health-care settings, including hospitals and care homes. Unless you are exempt, you must still wear a mask before coming into either of our surgeries.

Ampleforth Surgery has ramp access from the car park at the front of the surgery. Hovingham Surgery offers parking right outside the door on a flat surface which you may find easier.
